deaR diaRy,

i took half day off woRk today... deaR came to meet me outside my office building and we went foR yummy yummy cheap koRean food at singtel which is wheRe i always go foR lunch..

afteR lunch we took a bus down to national dental centRe... RegisteRed at the counteR... befoRe i was mentally pRepaRed, my numbeR blinked on the electRonic Reading and we went into the small cubicle sepaRated by low walls... deaR stayed with me all the while...

and the veRy fiRst thing i got to heaR was... "aRe you inteRested in bRaces?"

i was stunned... Really.. though i dun consideR my teeth to be veRy beautiful, but in my family i had the neatest teeth.. except foR the left loweR molaR that is tilted to the tongue that is... but i neveR expect anyone to ask me to weaR bRaces.. i always thought it was Redundant foR me... haiz... self confidence shatteRed at that moment...

went to take xRay... the peRson told me to Remove my eaRRings... and then i Realised that i actually have too many eaRRings... took me some time to Remove all 6 of them and in my hand was so many pieces of small metal eaRRings.. ha.. the xRay showed 4 wisdom tooth... sianz.. meaning 2 moRe on the Right is in the gum, going to gRow out and cause tRouble soon... =(

went to anotheR dentist, whose fiRst sentence was the same.. "aRe you inteRested in bRaces?".. man... i was theRe to get Rid of wisdom tooth!! but anyway, he says if i dun go foR bRaces, my teeth will get cavity easily.. the teeth of the loweR jaw lah.. i dun feel it's woRth it to weaR bRaces cos of ONE tooth that's tilted.. i RatheR extRact that stupid tooth as well.. ha..

this dentist went on to tell me things which i was veRy veRy shocked to heaR...

afteR 20 yeaRs of teasing and being mocked at foR having a long face.. i only got to find out today that it was due to the alignment of the jaws and the pRoblem could be Rectified thRough suRgeRy... i was like.. ???!!! since i was young, my sis used to laugh at me foR having gummy smile (i.e. when i smile, u'll see a lot of my gum instead of only 3/4 of the teeth foR noRmal ppl).. dentist told me it's cos i had a long uppeR jaw.. that's why.. and i always have dRy lips that cRack a lot is also because of the same Reason.. and it causes my lips to feel tiRed to close up all the time...

long face, i'm used to it.. gummy smile, i've long leaRnt not to smile wide so i wun show the gums.. dRy lips, i use lip balm to help... actually.. i've accepted these facts.. i'm Really.. moRe conceRned bout pain of the wisdom tooth..

when the dentist finally staRt to talk bout the wisdom tooth some time lateR, i was Relieved.. ha.. as said eaRlieR, extRaction foR the one that has gRown out, suRgeRy foR the one below that has not.. and he said 100% of the suRgeRy could be paid by medisave... *phew* i finally Realised the impoRtance of having CPF eaRly.. luckily i have $500+ in my medisave account..

tml's the suRgeRy.. deaR chose the date.. he says get it oveR and done with fast.. sianz.. this whole week cannot woRk le... but i still scheduled 2 tuition sessions on sunday lah.. should be okay by then.. $245 foR suRgeRy of one tooth, $30 foR extRaction of the otheR.. only going to Remove 2 teeth tml.. the left side one that is causing pain... dunwan both side of mouth to pain at the same time lest i wun be able to eat at all.. the otheR 2 wait till the left side heal fiRst then Remove... will cost bout $300+ ba... but can deduct fRom medisave la... luckily...

anyway, i'm so glad i had deaR with me today... otheRwise i would have fainted theRe... the dentist told me so much stuff that i was so tRaumatised... telling me that if i undeRgo GA, i may sleep and neveR wake up... if i undeRgo sedation, i'll wake up with no idea what happened.. theRe'Re 2 neRves veRy close to my widsom tooth.. i saw it fRom the xRay as well.. it's Really veRy close.. if accident aR.. then my loweR jaw/chin/tongue will be numb foR the Rest of my life.. wun know even if saliva flows out of my mouth... no sensation at all... gosh... =/

of couRse afteR all that the dentist said, i natuRally took up LA without sedation.. it's also the cheapest lah.. but i still feel veRy uneasy... =/ and i Really dun like the fact that i spent bout $100 just on consultation, listening to the dentists talk and nothing else... aRgh... my haRd eaRned money!!!!

mom's going to accompany me tml... i hope i'll stop cRying tml.. ha.. becoming cRy baby le... today dunno cRy how many times le.. i'm Really veRy tRaumatised and scaRed.. the woRd suRgeRy doesn't sound veRy fRiendly.. =( i've been to an opeRating theatRe... stood by the patient and obseRved an opeRation duRing my KKH attachment in JC, but i've neveR been on the opeRating table befoRe leh.. =(

shall stop heRe le... tml's suRgeRy at 930am.. i hope i'll suRvive this oRdeal.. ha.. will have lots of time foR blogging since i'll be at home foR the Rest of this week...
