Recent happenings.......



i passed my dRiving basic theoRy test!!! =) was late foR the test cos had to wait foR bus a long time afteR woRk.. sianz.. but anyway, i thought the test was quite tough!! heh.. so questions not veRy diRect like i thought it would be... but anyway, i Reached late and left eaRly.. haha...

just booked final theoRy test foR 16/10/2007 8pm.. hopefully my woRk schedule wun have any clash... else it'll be tRoublesome if no one wants to change shift with me..


theRe's been ouR own health scReening these few days... and the whole lab is kept SUPER busy... and suay enough, i've been allocated to do coRpoRate scReening on those days.. sianz.. neveRtheless, i tell u aR, it's sooooooo cool to be pRocessing my own blood myself.. i took the thin smeaR and look at my own blood undeR the micRoscope, tRying to identify the diffeRent kinds of white blood cells.. HOW COOL!!!!! =) and get 1st hand access to the test Results.. heh.. i'm quite healthy lah.. but my fasting glucose, though within acceptable Range, seems to be a bit high (i fasted 23 hRs pRioR to the test!!).. shall take note of my sugaR intake.. i have high HDL-C!! =) thanks to standing whole day at woRk and the weekend exeRcise with deaR.. =)

the bad thing bout coRpoRate scReening was.. i had to do OT to finish pRocessing all the specimens.. it wasn't that accuRate also.. as a lot of the samples weRe left foR MANY houRs befoRe pRocessing and most weRe lysed to ceRtain extent.. ending late is the woRse thing lah... i alReady have to end woRk at 730pm... had to do OT till 930pm......... so late.............. the fiRst night i called dad and luckily he was aRound the place! so daddy veRy nicely came oveR and dRove me back home.. =) fiRst time!!! second night i did OT (which was yesteRday actually), deaR came down and dRove me back.. =) it happened to be bRotheR's bday too, so he came up and cut cake (as well as eat his favouRite - my mom's cuRRy and fRied bee hoon)... pooR deaR must have been staRving... waiting till 1030pm befoRe he could have dinneR cos he was waiting foR me.. thanx deaR!! =)


i went foR my venepunctuRe tRaining couRse today.. it was pRetty fun!! moRning was the self diRected e-leaRning.. it was quite difficult.. afteRall, i'm new to all those stuff.. and back in school, i hated having to RemembeR the names of all the veins! cos eveRyone else except me and ouR expeRienced lab phlebotomy (who went foR the couRse as a RefResheR) aRe nuRses.. so they moRe oR less know some stuff.. i was diligently copying down notes fRom the e-leaRning slides.. then i Realised i'm the 2nd last to leave... =x but still, i got full maRks foR the theoRy! =) MCQ lah.. haha..

had hands-on session in the afteRnoon! COOL!!! we had mannequin foR us to pRactise on.. i managed to dRaw "blood" (some pink colouRed wateR lah) fRom the mannequin's median cubital vein on my fiRst attempt!! =) cool~! suRpRisingly, my hand didn't shake and tRemble while i was poking.. maybe cos it's simulation lah.. so not as scaRed.. =x i did pRetty well foR my pRactical assessment too! but somehow didn't managed to dRaw blood... i could feel that i didn't get into the vein.. but if dealing with a Real patient, i can't poke in and out and in again mah.. so... i need moRe pRactise!! =x any volunteeRs?!?

i tRied the butteRfly clip as well!! poking the metacaRpel vein at the doRsal of the hand.. wen, that's wheRe u weRe poked! i undeRstand that they'Re not supposed to take blood fRom that paRt unless Really no choice.. cos it's a painful pRoceduRe.. =x heez.. next time u need to take blood, let me do it!! =p

i'll be bRinging my touRniquet with me aRound, tying anyone who's willing to let me feel his/ heR vein so i can leaRn to guage veins betteR.. =p do volunteeR uRself!! =)


i Received a letteR fRom DBS today.. tuition fee loan is due foR Repayment.. yeah... the letteR has come.. it was a letteR to notify me that in less than one week time, 1st august, they will be implementing inteRest on whateveR amount i owe them.. =( what shoRt notice... and i feel so cheated.. when i asked the bank ppl few yeaRs back when i applied foR the loan, they told me the inteRest will staRt one yeaR afteR gRaduation... then now tell me inteRest is staRting in few days time.. i went to check the contRact, and yeah.. i managed to find those SMALL lines stating inteRest staRting time.. sianz.....................................

luckily UOB @ toa payoh closes at 6pm.. my tRaining ended eaRly and i Rushed down to the bank to close down my UOB campus account.. and had so much cash on me that i was so scaRed i'll be Robbed cos eveRyone saw me counting money in thousands at the counteR.. =x one thousand dollaR note!! not something one sees veRy often... and by tmR oR the day afteR, ALL the money will belong to DBS............ plus i still need to foRk out almost ALL of my money in my sole savings account... just to Repay eveRything befoRe inteRest staRts on 1st august.. =(

i have to staRt building my account fRom scRatch again.. and hopefully save enough money foR me to take up dRiving lessons afteR i take my FTT in octobeR... as well as enough money foR an oveRseas tRip in dec (pRovided i manage to ballot foR annual leave then)... my plans foR all those beauty tReatment? i guess have to be shelved till i feel comfoRtable with my savings...

haiz.............. money money money... it's neveR enough..
