Major things i've achieved/ leaRnt in my caReeR so faR...

- pRomotion to Medical Technologist

- i am the key opeRatoR foR D10 thalassemia scReening.

- i am moRe confident of pRocessing fluids (CSF/ knee fluid/ peRitoneal fluid/ pleuRal fluid etc..).

- i can peRfoRm (foR fluids) cell count, cytospin, gRam staining, wRight staining, slide Reading, indian ink etc etc without having to RefeR to the manual. (eRm, ok.. i have to RefeR foR the calculations lah..)

- i can make a pRetty nice blood film in one tRy (at most two) instead of 15-20 tRies when i fiRst staRted leaRning to make a pRopeR blood film.

- i am now able to Read and inteRpRete a blood film with confidence.

- i can pRepaRe cells foR blood banking without RefeRRing to manual and with confidence.

- i am now able to peRfoRm full cRoss match without having to RefeR to the manual and with confidence.

- i can match and issue blood oR blood pRoducts with confidence.

- i am able to identify and solve pRoblems Related to the 2 stupid instRuments.

- i have passed my theoRy/ pRactical competency testing in blood banking.

- i am a ceRtified phlebotomist.

- i am BCLS ceRtified. (i am qualified to peRfoRm 1 oR 2 man CPR, infant/adult choking saving)

- i can peRfoRm ECG (simple lah).




Things that i wanna achieve this yeaR in my caReeR..

- to be able to diffeRentiate blast cells/ pRomyelocytes in a peRipheRal blood film with moRe confidence.

- to be able to diffeRentiate the diffeRent types of malaRia paRasites on blood film (especially the Ring foRm! falcipaRum and vivax looks exactly the same to me.. -_-)

- to be one of the in-chaRge of blood banking. (this is something that's not going to be easy but i'm gonna tRy Really haRd)

- to masteR the less fRequently peRfoRmed tests in blood banking.

- to masteR the theoRies, especially the antibodies, Related to blood banking.

- to sign up foR a peRsonal upgRading/ impRovement couRse in biochemistRy/ haematology.

- to pass my haemato competency testing (i need time to mug!! sus says it'll be veRy difficult!)

- to be able to peRfoRm night duty in each section alone without help.




Things i wanna achieve within the next few yeaRs in my caReeR...

- wRite up a posteR foR a pResentation!! need not be oveRseas pResentation, a national one would suffice foR now. this would be ONE BIG STEP foRwaRd in my caReeR.

- attend an oveRseas confeRence! (the chance, as dR wong puts it simply, will only be given AFTER one wRites up and pResent a posteR)

- take up anotheR degRee couRse (pRovided i save enough money AND that i dun get maRRied within these few yeaRs) Related to my woRk.. life sciences is useless, i shan't continue to peRsue a higheR degRee in that..





that's all i can think foR now! =p
