afteR moRe than one yeaR, i finally got my chance to watching a bone maRRow aspiRation (BMA)!! most of the times, JQ ALWAYS insist on going and leaving me out.. then gRadually it became BMA always happen to fall on days when i'm doing afteRnoon oR night shift.. finally, i managed to get hohoho to coveR my duties so i could go with sus and daodao to watch~ =)

the waRd has no aiRcon and the windows weRe closed cos it was Raining heavily outside.. we put on ouR blazeRs... Reached the waRd and saw 2 female doctoRs plus many otheR attachment doctoR students fRom NUS.. we asked foR foRmalin and put on ouR gloves and mask...

then the old uncle (age: 80++) wanted to poo.. and he did.. Right theRe on the bed on the pampeRs the nuRse quickly took and placed undeRneath.. and the docs pRoceeded with BMA as the old man pooped. =x it didn't look veRy gRoss to me as what otheR colleagues descRibed.. while, afteRall, i've been thRough human anatomy and also watched a heaRt suRgical pRoceduRe befoRe..

woRe gloves, put on mask... then the doc (who looks quite young) staRted the BMA, fiRst 0.5ml, then sus quickly put into the EDTA and inveRt.. but the bone maRRow fRagments weRe little.. eaRlieR on ouR lab manageR was telling us N has been complaining bout the BMA we sent having too few fRagments.. so we asked the doc foR moRe.. tRied a few moRe times.. each time, though we veRy quickly put it into EDTA and mix, it was still clotted.. 4 times..

the patient staRted gRoaning in pain.. the doc lost heR tempeR and staRted to Raise heR voice at us.. well, i think she's just paiseh.. cos theRe weRe so many people looking and tRying to leaRn fRom heR.. then sus weRe whispeRing to me bout us going back to complain to mR lim bout the doc's attitude... a few moments lateR, (we think the doc saw us whispeRing) the doc apologised to us.. =x

sus Realised we've foRgotten to take the tube foR cytogenetics, so daodao quickly Rushed back to the lab and take.. =x

the doc went on foR the tRephine... it had been quite some time.. the Room was stuffy... the blazeR was making me sweat inside.. the mask was making me bReathe in stale aiR.. i staRted to feel dizzy.. my eaRs staRted heaRing Ringing sound... it was the same sensation.. i knew i was going to faint if i continue standing theRe.. told sus and daodao, quickly walked off to take off the mask.. leaned against the pillaR and staRted fanning myself fRantically.. helped, but still felt dizzy.. quickly went to the neaRby chaiR and sat down..

GOSH. AM I THAT WEAK?

maybe my Hb has dRopped even fuRtheR...

i went back afteR i felt betteR but the pRoceduRe was almost oveR.. daRn... RaRe chance and i had to miss paRt of it..

anyway, afteR the pRoceduRe ended, the nuRses cleaRed up the mess and the pampeRs.. then the old man suddenly said he want to poop again.. the nuRse quickly asked anotheR nuRse to take anotheR diapeR.. but it was too late.. we saw the feces flowing out!! and befoRe we knew it, the nuRse used heR hand (with gloves, of couRse!) to hold the SHIT! OMG!

This is the Reason why i can neveR be a nuRse.

went back to the lab to enjoy the aiRcon.. haha.. howeveR, i've been feeling a little faint and dizzy the whole day afteR that.. sianz...

CME pResentation next month... haven't decide on what to pResent on... haematology topics all seem quite tough.. =x

ALL my weekends next month will be spent woRking.
