i finally got a chance to witnessed the whole bone maRRow pRoceduRe fRom the patient pRepaRation Right till dRessing of wound!

it was done by a noob female doc.. who was asking the male doc standing behind heR questions halfway thRough the pRoceduRe.. oh man! pooR patient.. guinea pig foR the doc..

theRe was 3 bone maRRow oRdeRed in the same waRd on the same day!! cRazy man.. it's not even usual to have 1, not to say 3.. we had to send out the slides by a ceRtain timing, so in the end one was postponed till the next day...

anyway, i went along with sus (luckily i was an extRa helpeR in BB that day, so i could tag along and leaRn!)... ouR job is quite simple.. basically to collect the specimens.. make suRe it's enough.. check that theRe's no clot... do a tRephine tap slide.. dRop it into foRmalin.. and tadah! we'Re done.. some staff chose to do slides by the bedside, but i think i pRefeR to bRing the specimens back to the lab and do it theRe...

so sus went foR the 2nd BMA.. i called the lab to get the next peRson to come and leaRn, while i went back with the specimens foR the fiRst patient and made a total of 17 slides!! ugly slides they weRe.. but i was happy that the slides had many fRagments.. heh.. not bad lah... =p

i think i'm confident enough to go foR BMA alone the next time.. =)




i was supposed to post an entRy on the sungei buloh natuRe paRk tRip which we went last weekend... but i can't seem to upload the pictuRes.. anotheR time peRhaps! but well, in summaRy, it was a place FULL OF MOSQUITOES. the whole bottle of insect Repellent doesn't seem to woRk foR me!

weiRd thing was, the mosquito bites didn't itch until the next day, though they weRe immediately visible afteR the tRip.. and i was the only one bitten!! so unfaiR!!!

it was niceR than botanic gaRdens in my opinion.. of couRse, foR a peRson who likes animal biology moRe than plant, i quite enjoy the place.. except when i accidently distuRbed HUGE monitoR lizaRds basking in the sun blocking my pathway.. =x i thought it was a cRocodile!!!! it was THAT BIG... and when i saw the small ones, i thought it was some skin shedded.. went so close to it and it suddenly squiggle away.. i got so staRlted! =x


my next destination could veRy well be climbing bukit timah hill!! but the mosquito bites fRom sungei buloh aRe making me hesistate.. well... we'll see!! =p
