afteR what seems like foReveR, we landed on san fRancisco.. it was the woRse flight eveR, as i couldn't sleep duRing the whole jouRney at all.. 11 houRs? he was happily sleeping THROUGOUT the flight and i was just feeling iRRitated and uncomfoRtable.. stupid me foR choosing window seats cos i couldn't get out to stRetch at all!

the tRain fRom the aiRpoRt to get to ouR hotel..
when we get to powell station, we weRe holding the map in ouR hands and figuRing which diRection to go.. this black guy appRoached us and offeRed help.. i was suRpRised by the fRiendliness, it wasn't something i was expecting! well, he says no haRm asking though i was feeling skeptical bout it.. in the end, the infoRmation pRovided wasn't something we dunno, and he asked foR tips... =x that cost us 5usd!
MayfloweR hotel, a nice little cosy hotel that was thankfully fRee of bed bugs! and cheap too! but of couRse, theRe's a pRice to pay... we had to climb 5 BLOCKS (befoRe i went theRe, i seRiously thought 5 blocks meant 5 HDB blocks, BUT it actually meant 5 JUNCTIONS) of STEEP SLOPES, i Repeat, STEEP SLOPES, to get to ouR hotel.. with a heavy luggage in hand, a slope that steep took us foReveR to get to the hotel! i liteRally had to stop eveR few steps afteR 3 blocks to Rest and catch my bReath..
we weRe given a Room on the 1st level (gRound level theRe is ouR 1st, so theiR 1st is ouR 2nd), and i insist on using the ancient elevatoR eveRyday! =p
the old kind of elevatoR! open the dooR when you see the light, pull the gate open...
you have to hold the dooR and the gate at the same time as you enteR...
then you close the dooR and gate and pRess on youR level! COOL! fun!!
but sometimes it takes foReveR cos it's sloweR...

it took us a fReaking 3 houRs on public bus to get heRe fRom ouR hotel! afteR spending 5+ houRs heRe we took anotheR fReaking 3 houRs to get back, just in time foR the last bus to ouR hotel..
we went stRaight to the fiRst Ride we saw in ghost town.. most people actually went to snoopy place fiRst.. but to avoid the cRowd, we walked clockwise instead.. theRe was a LOT of kids queuing up foR this Ride, so i thought it was just a easy Ride..
I WAS WRONG.
i didn't stRap myself veRy tightly (i foRgot i was on a RolleR coasteR and not on a plane), and half of the time i felt myself floating in the aiR.. i didn't feel secuRe and i felt like i was going to dRop off anytime.. beaRing in mind that i'm a RolleR coasteR loveR, this Ride fReaked me out.. i felt like vomiting halfway and even had the thought of stopping the whole damn thing. gosh. imagine the guy beside me, who went on the Ride with me afteR i peRsuaded him that it's going to be a mild Ride since it's all kids taking it.. =x
both of us went totally feeble afteR it.. and we didn't go on anymoRe Rides foR the Rest of the moRning till afteR lunch.. and even when we did, we did it selectively.. i didn't want to die in a foReign place.. =x

Rode on this hoRse and went high speed aRound the tRacks in mid-aiR.. feels veRy diffeRent fRom the noRmal RolleR coasteR, quite shiok in fact!
"RobbeRs" on the choo choo tRain we went, to let ouR lunch digest a bit fiRst befoRe we go on the next Ride..
this was the ultimate Ride theRe.. it's called XcceleRatoR.. afteR being stRapped to the seat, a hoRn sounds, and OFF you go, at maximum speed (usually RolleR coasteRs staRt slow and pick up speed, don't they? this is an exception) to the highest point (it was REALLY REALLY HIGH AND STEEP) and down and makes a few tuRns befoRe it comes to a scReeching stop.. definitely not foR the faint heaRted!!

this was a RolleR coasteR that Rotates on its axis while it goes aRound the tRack.. double spinning! i wanted to take this as a last Ride, but he DIE DIE also Refuse to go on it.. and i wasn't willing to go on it alone.. so we just stood and watch.. =x
so you see, we didn't go on a lot of Rides.. the minimal, i would say.. LOL.
how can we not tRy the famous Mrs Knott's chicken! but he says KFC still taste betteR.. whateveR.. as long as it's non-beef, i'm happy.. it's so DIFFICULT to find non-beef, non-sanwhich stuff to eat theRe!
taken fRom the metRo line, while waiting foR the "tRain".. it's actually a bus! just that it has its own designated Road which otheR vehicles weRe not allowed on.. and while it's cRossing junction, all otheR vehicles have to stop and give way..
this was one of the cheapest baRgain we got in the whole tRip.. 6USD foR a medium pizza, that's Really cheap!! both of us couldn't even finish it.. but cos of the pizza, we almost missed ouR last bus back to the hotel...
i Really didn't quite like the fact that theiR last bus was 745pm! but well, we took 1 houR to go back, so it's not that eaRly when we Reached the hotel..
Ripley's believe it or not! contemplating whetheR to post pictuRes, but decided not to.. i thought it was quite cReepy and fReaking..
we went to watch a show... and when we went in, we weRe pleasantly suRpRised by the beautiful layout of the place...
you even have a guy playing songs foR you! the way he exited fRom the stage was by descending into the stage while playing.. COOL!

and heck! a gRoup of people came Running up to the stage, complete with disney chaRacteRs, and staRted to sing and dance.. at one point, they even thRew the laRge bouncy ball aRound the audience!

and got the Rest to stand up and dance! i thought it was quite cRazy.. did i go to the wRong place? can you guess what was the show i went to watch?
this was it! we watched UP at El Capitan, about one month befoRe the movie is scReened in singapoRe.. nice show, i loved it! especially the way they intRoduced the chaRacteRs in the caRtoon.. but foR 16USD, NO seat selection (fRee seating, fiRst come fiRst seRve basis), and having to queue up 1 houR ahead of time foR the movie is something i'll do once a life..
you have to tip these people foR taking a pictuRe with them.. and no way, i am not going to spend this kind of money.. so theRe, a sneak pictuRe.. =x
michael jackson's tile! theRe were LOTS of ppl cRowding aRound.. and as you can see, ppl left floweRs and all soRts of things theRe.. i saw a few teaRing while looking at this.. but no, we didn't go and send MJ off oR went foR the memoRial thingy cos he says it would be just too cRazy and cRowded.. oh well.. i'm not a fan anyway..

beside ouR hotel lobby, wheRe we had a nice and decent bReakfast eveRyday... had too much minute maid's oRange and apple juice both heRe and on the plane till i was soooooo sick of it!!
In the cab going to the aiRpoRt bus teRminal... all theiR cabs had secuRity cameRa installed and this shield between the back and fRont seats.. i assume it is to pRevent anyone fRom stRangling the dRiveR fRom the back? goes to show how unsafe the place is! =x

we weRe quite suRpRised when we had to bRing ouR luggage to anotheR aRea (instead of the check in counteR) foR sepaRate secuRity scan.. i mean, it's okay foR secuRity scan, but the way they tRanspoRt ouR luggage aRound was woRRying.. they stacked the luggages on tRolleys and bRing them elsewheRe.. i was RatheR woRRied they would mixed up the luggages going to diffeRent countRies, oR would dRop the luggage halfway while tRanspoRting..
the flight back was even longeR.. 12 houRs? but luckily i was able to fall asleep cos i was just too tiRed.. slept bout 6 houRs.. spent a few houRs watching haRRy potteR and some otheR movie.. when we got to hong kong wheRe we had to wait foR 3 houRs, the fiRst thing we did was to find a nice cushion seat away fRom the cRowd.. and PLONK, with bags as pillow, each of us took 2 seats and slept theRe.. so much moRe comfoRtable than sleeping on the plane! we had haR gow using whateveR little HKD i bRought (left oveRs fRom pRevious tRip).. =p
landed singapoRe 1230pm.. his paRents came to fetch us home..
so that concludes USA 2009! =)
